1、 Northwest Production Area
The climate is arid, with abundant solar and thermal resources. It belongs to the semi-arid and arid agricultural climate region of Northwest China, and is also the main production area for seed melon cultivation. According to incomplete statistics in 1989, the total planting area of seed melon in various provinces in Northwest China is about 100000 hectares, with a total output of about 123000 tons. The cultivation area and total output account for 80% and 90% of the country's total, respectively.
2、 North China production area
Mainly produced in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, it belongs to temperate arid or semi-arid areas, with a climate characterized by large temperature differences and long sunshine hours. The main production areas are distributed in the Zhelimu League, Aohan Banner in Chifeng City, Horqin Right Front Banner in Xing'an League, and Hetao Plain in Bayannur League. Starting from the 1970s, the introduction of Lanzhou large plate seed melons generally produced 1800kg per hectare, with most products being medium plates.
3、 Southern production areas
It is also cultivated locally in high-temperature and humid areas of East, Central, and South China.
The cultivation of seed melons in Jiangxi Province is mainly distributed in Xinfeng, Wucheng, Jishui, Taihe and other places. The cultivated variety is Xinfeng white flesh red seed melons, with a purple red seed coat, small boards, and plump texture. The yield per hectare is is 750kg, and the high yield can reach 1500kg. The main production areas in Hunan Province are prefectures and counties, with a long cultivation history. Most of its products are sold to coastal cities, and some are exported.
